Eliminating the need for sewing on watertight textiles
Industrial sewing is inherently problematic for waterproof products because sewing punctures material. It can also be imprecise, an issue for small parts.
Our client, a multibillion-dollar automotive supplier specializing in vehicle roof systems, approached us about printing on waterbags for convertible roofs. Water bags prevent rain from running into the trunk of a vehicle. They are made from watertight textile with a sealing surface adhered by stitching.
With RX-AM™ technology, we printed our material ChromaMotive 70 directly onto the waterbag fabric to create a sealing surface. The result was a reliable watertight seal with seamless assembly and fewer steps for our customer.
