This heavy steel component bolted underneath each passenger car limits the lateral play of the car body. This safety-relevant part is no plan replacement part and hence not held on stock. One day, a damaged secondary roll stop was instantly needed for an ICE train. Due to high manufacturing costs, long lead times and minimum order quantity, the secondary roll stop was manufactured additively: lead time was reduced by 6 months including the full testing and approval scale until the final installation. The part had been intensively tested and subsequently qualified by TÜV-Süd. It is one of the first 3D printed rolling stock spare part on a train.
