At the Chair of Design in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (iMAD), research and teaching are closely linked: Didactically good and up-to-date teaching is combined with scientifically sound, but also practice-oriented research. Our mission is the research and development of methods and processes of product development, their evaluation on real systems and the excellent transfer of our knowledge in teaching and further education. Our claim is to be the leading scientific institution and first contact for product development in Rhineland-Palatinate. As a research institution of the only technical university in our state, we also see ourselves as committed to providing technological and scientific support to regional industrial companies. Our subject areas are diverse and broadly diversified. However, the main focus of the chair’s activities lies in the field of commercial and material handling vehicle technology. In addition, we work in the fields of additive manufacturing and high-pressure water jet technology.
